Services

We're pleased to offer the following services at the Fort Kent Animal Hospital:

 kitty1.pngAppointments for outpatient and surgery

Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our team members attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. We are open for scheduled appointments with the doctor from:

  • Monday - Friday                      8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Saturdays                                 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Most of our surgical procedures are performed using a state-of-the-art laser for maximum comfort and minimal tissue damage.  Diagnostic services such as radiology, in-house laboratory for same-day results, and more are performed by our efficient staff.  We have a wide range of treatment and therapy options tailored for your pet's condition; customized treatment plans may include inpatient and outpatient supportive care with medications, special diets, therapy laser treatments, and more.  See other pages for more details.

 Hospitalization

We provide full inpatient care services for pets that need to be hospitalized for treatment while recovering from an illness or injury.  Our isolation ward allows us to keep patients with potentially contagious disease separate from pets entering the hospital for elective surgery or wellness care.  Staff members are available during business hours to monitor, medicate and provide comfort to hospitalized pets, and our video surveillance system allows the doctor to keep tabs on hospitalized patients throughout the night.

Emergency & Urgent Care

We are not able to offer after-hour emergency services at this time.  Emergencies are accepted during all regular business hours.  If you feel your pet requires urgent care, please call us immediately. It is always best to call ahead with an emergency:  this ensures that our office is open and that one of the doctors is available to see your pet immediately.  Once this has been confirmed, calling ahead also allows our team to prepare for your arrival by readying our x-ray equipment, trauma and shock supplies.

Life-threatening emergencies are first priority on arrival, and most pet owners are very understanding when their scheduled appointments are late under such circumstances.  Please understand that delays may occur when the only available doctor is occupied in a surgery or uninterruptable procedure.

We do our best to accomodate urgent-care walk-ins when the condition is not life-threatening, but your waiting time will be minimized if you call ahead.  When you arrive, a team member can check your pet's vital signs and will be able to give you an estimated waiting time.  Clients with scheduled appointments will not be asked to wait while unscheduled patients are seen unless the patient's life signs are unstable.

Types of Pets Seen

To stay current and provide the best quality care possible for the pets they see most, Dr. Yule and Dr. Swanson choose to concentrate their continuing education focus on these pet species.  We currently provide care for these types of pets:

  • Dogs
  • Cats
  • Ferrets
  • Reptiles

Other types of pets may be seen when additional doctors join our practice as it grows.

Payments

In order to provide you high quality service utilizing the best medical technologies, we require that full payment be made at the time services are rendered.  We accept payment via cash, check, MasterCard, or Visa, and we have a credit service available for those in need. Please see our Payment Option page for more details.

We do our best to provide cost estimates for all surgeries and hospitalizations. Clients with financial concerns are encouraged to request an estimate at any time prior to consenting to treatment.
