Charity services
Shelter Support
The hospital works with local animal rescue and shelter organizations to provide discounted services and fundraising efforts for pets in need. Please see http://www.ourvalleypaws.com/index.php for more information about animal sheltering services for the St. John Valley.
Guardian Fund
This account is supported by donations from clients and friends of the hospital, and 10% of all grooming proceeds generated at the hospital are donated to the fund. Funds are used to support care for stray pets brought by good samaritans as well as to supplement unexpected medical bills for low-income clients on a case-by-case basis.
Sled Dog Support
The doctor and staff dedicate a significant number of hours each year to compiling and organizing supplies for our local sled dog races, the Eagle Lake 100 and the Can Am Crown. The medical supplies and musher's welcome packets are a combination of donated and race-purchased materials, and our hospital contacts various organizations to solicit donations, order needed supplies within the race budget, and organize materials in easy-to-dispense containers for use on the trails during these races. We are also on hand for emergencies should any dog require hospitalization during or after a race.
The Fort Kent Animal Hospital often sponsors a local sled dog team in one or more of the races to promote good health in dog sled sports.
